Three cards are live. Which one fits?

  • Beginner — a new software project with common goals and no rule naming a specific license.
  • Advanced — an employer, customer, ecosystem, or dependency requires a particular license, or you want fine-grained control over patent and source-sharing terms.
  • Documentation & media — writing, images, audio, or video, with Creative Commons outcomes and a straight answer when the restrictions you want are not open licensing.
  • Releasing software and not sure which card? Start with Beginner. If it turns out a rule applies, it hands you to Advanced without losing your place.
